The new 2026-2027 Post 9-11 GI Bill went into effective August 1, 2026. Eligible Veterans can receive up to $1,000 per academic year for books and supplies. For those entitled to the full benefit, the VA will pay the net tuition and mandatory fees for state universities and community colleges, up to $30,908.34 for current private/foreign-school tuition-and-fee/non-college degree programs, and $17,661.89 for flight training. The VA also lists current housing, apprenticeship/OJT and testing provisions. As colleges begin fall terms across the country, Veterans and Military Families should fully explore these available benefits to see what they might be eligible for.
